New Art by Peter Batchelder

These are not ordinary "Barn" paintings.

New Artist: Galia Gluckman

ART WITH A CONSCIOUS

Just in time for Design Boston 2010, Diana Levine Fine Art has uncovered an exciting new artist, Galia Gluckman. Gluckman creates large scale mosaics out of tiny pieces of recycled magazine and painted paper, finished with several layers of sealer. The complex and intricate color combinations form vibrant, breathtaking work inspired by international travels and her upbringing in
South Africa.

Although Galia is new to DLFA, the New York based artist is certainly not a stranger to success. She was recently honored at the International Art Expo in New York City with "Best Overall Green Piece" in the "Global Green Artist Challenge." Magazine features include Elle Decoration, Art Business News, and Interior Design.

In order to better serve the specific size needs of the design community, DLFA is pleased to offer museum-quality giclee canvas prints of Galia's collages. The art reproduction studio Galia uses has the highest resolution scanner in the world, the only one of its kind in the United Sates. The studio also reproduces work for the Getty Museum and the Vatican.

"I take great pride in turning paper that might otherwise go to landfills into works of art. Only about 17 percent of sold magazines are recycled."

Peter Batchelder Editorial in "American Art Collector" Magazine

OIL PAINTING

Peter Batchelder was recently featured in American Art Collector magazine. The editorial discusses Batchelder's signature style: visually deconstructed New England architectural landscapes. While the compositions are left with few elements, Batchlder adds others: "I like the challenge of painting wind and light in such a way that gives painting the desired effect." This is achieved through the layering of colors, creating depth and movement, paired with textural, loose brushstrokes.
When painting a landscape, Peter considers the architecture's nature, its relation with the landscape, light, and color, and the history of the place. How it might have appeared in the past, the growth, and the death, that has since occurred.
All Batchelder paintings embody a sense of peacefulness and solitude, representing a generic place, free from distinct details, allowing the viewer to "let their curiosity create a story."

"I am drawn to Peter's simple pastoral barn images and his use of bold blocks of brilliant color. Peter's paintings fit perfectly among out other colorful, whimsical pieces. They have transformed our dining and living rooms."
